About Motorcycle Wheelie

Motorcycle Wheelie is one input and one number. Hold the throttle to pitch the bike back, release to let it drop, and try to keep the front wheel inside a narrow band of angles where the wheelie is stable. Score accrues per metre while you are inside that band and stops the moment you are not.

It behaves like a balance problem because it is one. Pitch too far and the bike loops out backwards. Let it drop and the front wheel touches down, ending the wheelie and the score. The band is wide enough to be learnable and narrow enough that nobody holds it by accident.

The reason it earns its Hard rating is that the balance window tightens as your speed climbs, so a long run gets harder the longer it goes. Most players plateau around a couple of hundred metres before something clicks and they suddenly double it.

Objective

Hold a stable wheelie for as much distance as possible. Score accumulates only while the bike is inside the balance window shown on the meter.

How to play

  1. Press Start Game and let the bike gather speed.
  2. Hold the throttle to lift the front wheel off the ground.
  3. Release, and feather the throttle, to keep the pitch inside the green band on the balance meter.
  4. Score builds for every metre you stay in the band. It pauses when you fall out of it.
  5. Looping out backwards, or dropping the front wheel, ends the run.

Controls

Keyboard controls for Motorcycle Wheelie
KeyAction
Arrow Up / WThrottle — pitches the bike back
Arrow Down / SEase off — pitches the bike forward
SpaceStart, or restart after a crash
PPause and resume

On a phone: Two tall buttons: hold the up button to pitch back, the down button to ease forward. Both are pressure-duration controls, so short taps are the point.

Tips

  • Use short taps, not long holds. The bike responds with a delay, so a long hold has already overshot by the time you see it move.
  • Get the bike into the band and then aim to do almost nothing. Most crashes are over-correction, not under-correction.
  • Watch the meter rather than the bike. The meter shows pitch directly; the bike's silhouette is harder to judge against a moving background.
  • When the balance window tightens at speed, ease off slightly and let the bike settle low in the band. There is more room to recover from below than from above.

Questions about Motorcycle Wheelie

Why do I loop out even though I let go of the throttle?

Because pitch has momentum. Releasing stops adding rotation but does not cancel what you have already built, so you need to release before you reach the limit, not at it.

Does distance outside the balance window count?

No. Only distance ridden inside the window scores, which is why a long unstable run can score less than a short controlled one.

Is this the hardest game on the site?

It has the steepest early learning curve. Impossible Bike Track is harder to finish, but Motorcycle Wheelie is harder to be merely competent at.
