Motorcycle Lane Rush widens the lane-dodging format to five lanes and then does something uncomfortable with two of them: the traffic in the upper lanes is oncoming. Closing speed there is roughly double what it is in the lanes travelling with you, so the same-sized gap is half as forgiving depending on which side of the road you are on.
The boost gauge is what pushes you into those lanes anyway. It fills as you weave between lanes and empties when you spend it, and spending boost is where the score is. Playing safe in the lower lanes keeps you alive and keeps your score modest.
There is a real risk-management loop here, which is why it sits above the beginner games: you are constantly choosing between filling the gauge in the dangerous lanes and cashing it in where you have room to survive the extra speed.
Cover distance and spend boost to multiply it. The gauge only fills by weaving between lanes, so the score is in the risk.

A top-down crossing puzzle. Advance one lane at a time and read the traffic before you move.
Night traffic seen only through your headlight. Tail lights are your early warning system.
Three dash charges, two-way traffic, and gaps that only exist for a moment.
The top two. Everything below them travels in your direction, so closing speeds are much lower there.
Changing lanes. Sitting still in a safe lane will never fill it, which is the point — the gauge is there to push you into traffic.
No. It raises your speed and your score rate, and nothing else. Boosting into a bad gap is worse than not boosting at all.
